“I was really impressed how we managed the head-to-head portion while being strategic on a tough back nine,” UW head coach Josey Stender said. “We battled adversity in the fall season, and we showed that we believe in ourselves and understand our own game in match play. Playing with teammates in an event like this is a great for us with a built-in cheerleader and having a teammate there is so important. Overall, I’m proud of the effort our team showed today.”

Ryan trailed by two with four holes left in the match. A birdie off great wedge play sparked the comeback on the 15th hole. She then tied the match with a par on 17 and earned a par on 18 with a clutch putt to send the Cowgirls to the semifinals.

Jaden Gonzalez also made a comeback on the back nine to earn her victory 2&1. She recorded a bridie on the 10th hole to tie the match and added birdies on hole 13 and 14 with solid putting to take control of the match.

Kyla Wilde took the same route as Ryan and Gonzalez earning a comeback win. She recorded a birdie on hole 11 to tie the match and then used pars on 15 and 17 to earn the win. Tomine Bjerkelo fell in her match 4&2 and Sophie Spiva fell 2&1.

Grace Dunkleberger won her individual matchup 2&1. Samantha Spielman fell in her individual match 3&1.

The Cowgirls return to action tomorrow morning in the semifinals against Northern Arizona.
