LARAMIE -- The Wyoming Cowgirl tennis team returns home this week for a pair of Mountain West matchups. Wyoming hosts San Diego State Friday at 4 p.m., and UNLV Sunday morning at 11.

The Cowgirls (4-12, 1-3 MW) are fresh off a thrilling 4-3 win last Sunday on the road at Fresno State. Wyoming won a pair of three-set singles contests in the match against the Bulldogs to help pull out the win.

In addition to the Doubles Point victory from the Brown & Gold, the Cowgirls also got singles wins from Anastasiia Kochelaevskaia at No. 2, Elena Trencheva, who clinched the team victory, at No. 4 and Dilnaz Mashabayeva at No. 5 against Fresno State.

Mashabayeva and Trencheva lead the Cowgirls with seven and six wins, respectively in dual singles victories this season. Trencheva and Kochelaevskaia have both won three consecutive singles matches. On the doubles side of things, the No. 1 doubles tandem of Violetta Borodina and Mashabayeva won in both matches last week and improved to 12-3 overall and 6-0 in dual matches.

The duo is 4-0 in league play and are 8-2 in their last 10 matches played together.

San Diego State enters Friday’s match at 2-1 in Mountain West play but is 0-2 in road matches in 2025. UNLV, meanwhile, is 3-0 and has won five matches consecutively and is 0-1 in true road matches. The Cowgirls are 2-2 at home this season.

From Bison to Triceratops - All of Wyoming's Official Things

Every state in our nation has chosen things that represent the state in one way or another to be official state things. Like a flower, or animal. Wyoming is no different.

The Equality State, or the Cowboy State, depending on which state slogan you want to go with, has a state flower. But did you know we also have a state tree and a state fish? Yes, we even have a state code.

To be an official thing, a member of the state legislature must write and submit a bill to the legislature declaring that a thing will be the official state thing. Then the legislature votes to pass the bill, or not, if it passes, the governor signs the bill into law and we have a new official state thing.

Here is what we have so far, all of Wyoming's official things. Now you can win big on Wyo Trivia Night if that's a thing that exists.
