Cowgirls struggle in second round of Wallace Women's Golf Classic

PALM DESERT, Calif., – Wyoming Cowgirls golf struggled during the second round of the Alice and John Wallace Women's Golf Classic on Saturday, shooting a collective +35 (319) to drop from 17th to 18th in the 21-team field through 36 holes at Monterey Country Club.

Senior Meghan Vogt shot a second-round 77 and is the top Cowgirl on the individual leaderboard at +11 for the tournament.

"Tough day today and not the outcome we had prepared for," UW head coach Josey Sender said. "We had too many compounded mistakes. Meghan had a fantastic rally today after a tough start."

No. 5 Oregon leads (-16) increased its lead to 12 strokes over No. 3 USC (-4) in the team race. Three Ducks – Kiara Romero (-6), Karen Tsuru (-5) and Suvichaya Vinijchaitham (-5) – are vying for the individual medalist honor entering Monday's final round.

"We have to have a reset tonight and trust in all the work they have put in over the last 10 days to have a positive finish," Stender said.

University of Wyoming’s Top 50 Football Players

During the summer of 2021, 7220Sports.com counted down the Top 50 football players in University of Wyoming history, presented by Premier Bone & Joint Centers, Worthy of Wyoming.

The rules are simple: What was the player's impact while in Laramie? That means NFL stats, draft status or any other accolade earned outside of UW is irrelevant when it comes to this list.
