LARAMIE -- The Wyoming Cowgirl tennis squad travels to Las Vegas for a pair of Mountain West contests this Saturday and Sunday. Wyoming opens the weekend with a 10:30 a.m., Mountain Time matchup with San Diego State April 9, before closing the trip with another 10:30 a.m., contest, this time against host-UNLV April 10.

The Cowgirls (8-9, 2-2 MW) are coming off a split in last weekend’s home action against New Mexico and Air Force. UW opened the weekend by making quick work of the Lobos, 4-0 before dropping an extended 4-2 contest to the Air Force Falcons last Sunday.

Sophie Zehender was the only Cowgirl to go 2-0 in singles play last weekend and improved her dual record to a team-best mark of 9-2 and is a perfect 4-0 in league play thus far on the season. Zehender, and her doubles partner, Ana Fernandez, also went 2-0 last week. The duo improved to 6-3 on the spring season and is 3-0 in the MW.

This weekend will feature another stringent league test for Wyoming. San Diego State enters Saturday’s contest with an overall record of 11-5 this season and is 3-1 in conference play. The Aztecs are 1-0 in their lone neutral-site matchup.

UNLV, meanwhile, also enters the weekend with a 3-1 Mountain West mark and is 13-3 overall. The Lady Rebels, much like SDSU, had their lone conference loss come at the hands of nationally ranked Fresno State, last week.

Last season, Wyoming was victorious at Colorado State over both UNLV and San Diego State, winning 4-3 and 4-0, respectively.
