
Former Wyoming Safety Inks 1-Year Deal With Patriots
LARAMIE -- Marcus Epps is shipping up to Boston.
The former Wyoming safety last Friday inked a 1-year, $4.4 million deal to join the New England Patriots after spending the previous two seasons in Las Vegas.
"Blessed. Grateful. Excited," Epps penned on social media. "Can't wait to get to work."

The California product appeared in just three games for the Raiders last fall before suffering a torn ACL. He capped the year with 19 tackles, including two for loss. The previous season, Epps tallied 66 stops, a forced and recovered fumble and three pass breakups.
A former walk-on in Laramie, Epps suited up for the Cowboys from 2015-18, registering 325 total tackles, including 111 in 2016 while helping lead Wyoming to an appearance in the Mountain West Championship game. He also picked off nine passes while playing alongside current Jacksonville Jaguar Andrew Wingard. Epps also scooped up four fumbles and forced an additional five
The Minnesota Vikings selected Epps in the sixth round of the 2019 NFL Draft.
He spent parts of four seasons in Philadelphia before inking a 2-year, $12-million contract with the Raiders, where he was voted a team captain. The 6-foot, 191-pound sledgehammer has 45 career starts under his belt in 82 outings.
Epps, 29, is expected to be a full go when Patriots' training camp opens July 24 in Foxboro.
He is one of 10 active NFL players who played at Wyoming, joining quarterback Josh Allen (Buffalo Bills), linebacker Logan Wilson (Cincinnati Bengals), cornerback Tyler Hall (Seattle Seahawks), safety Tashaun Gipson (San Francisco 49ers), Offensive lineman Frank Crum (Denver Broncos), linebacker Chad Muma (Jacksonville Jaguars), safety Andrew Wingard (Jacksonville Jaguars), defensive end Carl Granderson (New Orleans Saints) and tight end Treyton Welch (New Orleans Saints).
