LARAMIE -- The Wyoming Cowboys held their annual Spring Game on a sunny day inside War Memorial Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
The Gold Team took the contest 21-7, as it marked the 15th and final practice of the spring for the Brown and Gold.

“We needed to have a game today and get players out in a game rhythm and to go through the mechanics in front of fans and I appreciate all the fans that came out and it was a beautiful day,” UW Head coach Jay Sawvel said. “I’m really excited about everything, but we have work to do.”
The scoring opened with a touchdown scamper from Dontae Burch to five the Brown team a 7-0 lead in the first quarter. The score was set up by an interception from linebacker Gary Rutherford. The Gold Team tied the game on a touchdown pass from Gage Brook to Bricen Brantley that was set up by an interception from Brooklyn Cheek.
The Gold Team took a 14-7 lead into the half on a touchdown pass from Landon Sims to tight end Isaac Schoenfeld with 30 seconds left in the half. The Gold Team added to the lead with a pass from Sims to Bean to take a 21-7 lead and the win.

The Gold Team was led by Sims with 144 yards passing with two touchdown passes. Nico Hamilton rushed for 73 yards on 17 carries. Deion DeBlanc hauled in six catches for 48 yards. The defense was led by Evan Eller with nine tackles and one sack.
The Brown Team was led by Mason Drube passing for 175 yards. Kaden Anderson was 8-of-12 passing in the contest. Chris Durr Jr. added seven catches and Jaylen Sargent had 79 receiving yards. Gary Rutherford led the defense with a game-high 11 tackles along with Dash Bauman, as he also added a sack.
