Gyllenborg was named Preseason All-MW by both Athlon Sports and Phil Steele. He was also named to the College Football Freaks List by Bruce Feldman of The Athletic.

"Here's the thing, there's going to be a lot of people aware of him, as long as he's healthy," Wyoming head coach Jay Sawvel said last Tuesday. "... If they happened to watch part of practice today, there would've been a lot of people know about him in about a 15-minute span, because he made about six catches that leave you just sitting there going, 'Oh, OK, all right, you're pretty good.'"

Last season, Gyllenborg appeared in nine games and made six starts for the Cowboys after battling an injury early in the season. He earned Second Team All-MW accolades at tight end and led the Cowboys in receiving yards per game with 47.2.

He tied for the team lead with three touchdown receptions and ranked second on the Cowboys with 30 catches in nine games. He ranked second on the team in yards with 425.

Gyllenborg had a career-high 137 yards against San Jose State. It was the most by a Cowboy tight end since Jacob Hollister had 144 yards against Boise State in 2016. He also recorded seven games with three or more catches. He was the highest graded tight end in the MW according to Pro Football Focus.

University of Wyoming’s Top 50 Football Players

During the summer of 2021, 7220Sports.com counted down the Top 50 football players in University of Wyoming history, presented by Premier Bone & Joint Centers, Worthy of Wyoming.

The rules are simple: What was the player's impact while in Laramie? That means NFL stats, draft status or any other accolade earned outside of UW is irrelevant when it comes to this list.

This isn't a one-man job. This task called for a panel of experts. Joining 7220's Cody Tucker are Robert GagliardiJared NewlandRyan Thorburn, and Kevin McKinney.

We all compiled our own list of 50 and let computer averages do the work. Think BCS -- only we hope this catalog is fairer.
