LARAMIE -- Wyoming and UNLV will meet on the football field for the 25th time Friday afternoon inside Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas.

To say this series has been interesting would be a gross understatement.

No team has played the Cowboys in overtime more than the Rebels. Four times, including a 69-66 triple overtime affair in 2016, have these two taken at least one extra frame to determine a winner.

That day, the last time these two met in Sin City, went the way of the Rebels. The overtime series is tied at 2-2. What's even more bizarre, all of those games have taken place in Las Vegas.

Wyoming took care of business 53-17 last September in Laramie.

That was last year. This is 2020.

The Cowboys haven't played a game since Nov. 5. That, of course, was a 34-24 setback against Border War rival Colorado State. Air Force canceled the game the following week. Utah State followed suit the next. Both due to COVID-19 concerns.

Will rust play a factor Friday?

Maybe. UNLV was also forced to axe its last game, too.
