LARAMIE -- Some players will be on a "pitch count" during Saturday's annual Brown and Gold Spring Game inside War Memorial Stadium.

Some won't play at all.

The latter list isn't readily available, but the injury report is. Wyoming head coach Jay Sawvel went down the laundry list of ailments last Tuesday. While the number of guys might seem alarming -- kind of like what's currently in the transfer portal -- the diagnosis' aren't, for the most part.

Jordan Turnbull, a redshirt freshman defensive end, suffered an Achilles surgery that will sideline the Colorado product until at least October, according to Sawvel. Alex Haswell was also expected to be out that long. The nose guard from Sheridan, who underwent surgery on a knee, should actually return around August.

"We don't have a long-term-last-into-the-fall deal right now," the 54-year-old said, stopping mid sentence to knock on the wooden podium. "As it would be, we would have an entire team that would be healthy to start summer workouts right now.

"The things that we're dealing with right now are not things that would linger, so from that standpoint, there's a lot of reason to be optimistic."

University of Wyoming’s Top 50 Football Players

During the summer of 2021, 7220Sports.com counted down the Top 50 football players in University of Wyoming history, presented by Premier Bone & Joint Centers, Worthy of Wyoming.

The rules are simple: What was the player's impact while in Laramie? That means NFL stats, draft status or any other accolade earned outside of UW is irrelevant when it comes to this list.

This isn't a one-man job. This task called for a panel of experts. Joining 7220's Cody Tucker are Robert GagliardiJared NewlandRyan Thorburn, and Kevin McKinney.

We all compiled our own list of 50 and let computer averages do the work. Think BCS -- only we hope this catalog is fairer.
