
Nevada Pays a Visit To Laramie Tonight to Take on Cowgirls
LARAMIE – The Wyoming Cowgirls will play the second of their two consecutive home games Wednesday night as Nevada comes to town. Tip-off with the Wolf Pack is slated for 6:30.

Wednesday’s game will be broadcast live on the Mountain West Network and can be heard across the Cowgirl Radio Network with David Settle on the call.
ABOUT THE COWGIRLS
Wyoming (9-7, 3-1 MW) is coming off an exciting, hard-fought battle with San Diego State Saturday in Laramie that ended in a 78-71 victory for the Cowgirls. Allyson Fertig led the way with her seventh 20-point game of the season as she closed with 21 on 9-of-15 shooting.
Emily Mellema, who ended up with 18 points, came up huge for UW in the clutch. Mellema scored nine of her points in the final quarter and hit a 3-pointer with 25 seconds remaining to push the Cowgirl lead up to 74-69. Then, on the next defensive possession, Mellema recorded a steal which led her to making two at the free-throw line with 17 seconds left to all but ice the win for Wyoming.
The Cowgirls’ 54.2-percent (26-48) shooting from the floor and 53.8-percent (7-13) from 3-point range are both season-bests for UW in Mountain West games this season.
For the season, Fertig is second in the league in scoring (18.2 PPG) and rebounding (9.7 RPG) while shooting a league-leading 59-percent from the floor. Mellema is fourth in the league averaging 3.4 assists per game while her 1.45 assist-to-turnover ratio ranks fifth in the MW.
Mellema, who tied a career-high with six steals in Saturday’s win, is up to sixth now in the league averaging better than two steals a contest. In addition to Fertig, Tess Barnes (11.5, 17th), Mellema (10.4, 20th) and Pedersen (11.9, 13th) all rank in the top-20 in the conference in scoring.
UW is shooting a league-best 44.7-percent from the floor this season. The Cowgirls’ 60.3 points per game allowed on the year ranks second in the Mountain West. Wyoming’s 15.3 assists per game rank third in the conference, as does its 1.07 assist-to-turnover ratio. UW also ranks second in the league in fewest fouls committed per game at 13.8.
SCOUTING NEVADA
Nevada is once again led by Lexie Givens in both scoring in rebounding this season. Givens is averaging 12.4 points and 6.7 rebounds per game and has a team-best 47 made free throws. Kennedy Lee is second on the team in scoring at 11.7 a contest. Dymonique Maxie’s 46 assists and 35 steals are both team bests.
Izzy Sullivan has a team-high 27 made 3-pointers on the year while Victoria Davis also averages in double figures in scoring at 10.2 a game.
The Wolf Pack are averaging 66.4 points per contest and are allowing 67.1 a game. Nevada is shooting 39.6-percent overall from the field and nearly 31-percent from 3-point range. Wolf Pack opponents are shooting it at a 43.2-percent clip but hitting just 28-percent from beyond-the-arc.
Nevada has a near-plus three rebounding margin and is averaging better than an assist per game and nearly one fewer turnover a contest.
SERIES HISTORY AGAINST NEVADA
Wyoming leads the all-time series with the Wolf Pack, 24-9 and have won four straight in the series. The Cowgirls have won 12 straight against Nevada in Laramie, including a 59-52 win last season.
In three career games against the Wolf Pack, Malene Pedersen is averaging 14.7 points per game on 50-percent shooting.
