LARAMIE -- Tom Burman has spoken.

Wyoming's Athletics Director scoffed at the idea of the Cowboys dropping to the FCS, said the Mountain West can still be a solid conference and added the annual Border War game between his program and Colorado State will survive realignment if ... "Let's just not screw it up."

"I do believe we are relevant; we will stay relevant as an FBS conference and member," Burman added. "We have no desire to look at going down. The state of Wyoming is not a place that goes down; we fight, we grind away to stay relevant. I think we will. What we can bring to the table is one of the most engaged fan bases in the West. We can bring to the table good facilities and improving facilities. And a great, not good, a great Saturday game day atmosphere, especially compared to many of the schools that we're going to be compared to.

"So, we're proud of who we are, we wear it with pride, and we're striving and will continue to strive to be as relevant as possible."

University of Wyoming’s Top 50 Football Players

During the summer of 2021, 7220Sports.com counted down the Top 50 football players in University of Wyoming history, presented by Premier Bone & Joint Centers, Worthy of Wyoming.

The rules are simple: What was the player's impact while in Laramie? That means NFL stats, draft status or any other accolade earned outside of UW is irrelevant when it comes to this list.

This isn't a one-man job. This task called for a panel of experts. Joining 7220's Cody Tucker are Robert GagliardiJared NewlandRyan Thorburn, and Kevin McKinney.

We all compiled our own list of 50 and let computer averages do the work. Think BCS -- only we hope this catalog is fairer.
