Pokes Head to San Diego for Lamkin Invitational

LARAMIE -- The Wyoming Cowboy golf team returns to stroke play on Monday and Tuesday at the Lamkin invitational at the San Diego Country Club in San Diego, Calif. The field features eight teams ranked in the Top-50 of the recent rankings.
The Cowboys are coming off the Wyoming Match Play event Feb. 19-20 in Indian Wells, Calif. The Pokes finished with a 2-1 record finishing fourth in the event winning on a playoff in the final match play against Pacific.
Jaren Calkins went 2-0-1 at the event for the Cowboys winning his final two matches. Jimmy Dales went 2-1 at the event winning in dominate fashion the final two matches with wins by 6&5 and 3&2. Evan Johnson went 1-1-1 along with Patrick Azevedo.
For the season, Kristof Panke leads the team with a stroke average of 71.7. Jaren Calkins ranks second on the team at 72.0. Wyoming will play in only stroke play events for the rest of the season.

The Pokes will face another challenging field this week in San Diego. Washington is ranked fourth in the nation. Georgia Tech is ranked No. 13 and New Mexico at No. 19. In all eight teams rank in the top-50 nationally.
