LARAMIE -- Ravontae Holt will miss the rest of the 2021 season with an unspecified injury, Wyoming head coach Craig Bohl confirmed Monday.

The defensive tackle from Sacramento, Calif., registered 10 tackles, 2.5 sacks through the Cowboys first four games of the season.

Arguably no one has dealt with more adversity in the injury department than Holt.

He has played in just 21 games since arriving on campus back in 2017. Holt suffered ACL tears in three straight seasons. His last major knee injury occurred in Week 2 of the 2020 campaign.

The 6-foot-4, 278-pounder has 54 career tackles to go along with 3.5 sacks.

"It's great. It's exciting to see after everything that he's been through, and after all the times that he's had to battle back and bounce back, he's done it," Linebacker Chad Muma said of Holt after an opening day victory over Montana State. "He kind of proved this past Saturday by just how well and how fast he was playing. So, it's great to see that."

Holt was asked earlier this season what drives him and keeps him coming back after all these unfortunate setbacks. His answer was a simple one: He's faced more important adversity in his life than this.

"I've got a lot of people looking up to me," Holt said in early September. "I strive to be a role model."

Bohl didn't elaborate on the extend of Holt's injury, only saying the redshirt junior would be sidelined throughout the remainder of the regular season.

Redshirt freshman Jordan Bertagnole was listed as Holt's back-up through the first four games of the season. Cole Godbout, Caleb Robinson and Victor Jones, among others, can also rotate at that spot.

Bohl also announced Monday that tight end Treyton Welch should play this week after suffering a bruised leg late in last Saturday's game against New Mexico.

"We've got a lot of guys that are banged up, so we're going to try to get a pulse on that," Bohl said.

Just The Facts: Size Doesn't Matter For Wyoming's War Memorial Stadium

Did you know it would take the populations of Gillette (32,857), Laramie (32,381), Rock Springs (23,319), Sheridan (17,844) and Wright (1,200) to create a sellout inside Michigan's famed 107,601-seat Big House, the largest college football stadium in the nation?

For those of you not familiar with the Cowboy State, those are Wyoming's third through sixth most inhabited cities, along with the small mining town in Campbell County.
