Show Us Your Picks: Bowl Season
TUCSON, Ariz., -- So far, the Mountain West is 3-3 in the postseason, the most impressive win coming from the conference champion Fresno State Bulldogs, who smoked Washington State 29-6 in the LA Bowl. Jake Haener -- thankfully he's graduating, right? -- connected on 24-of-36 throws for 280 yards and two scores in the victory.
Running back Jordan Mims -- another player whose eligibility ran out -- claimed offensive MVP honors after dicing up the Coogs to the tune of 232 all-purpose yards and finding the end zone twice.
A little perspective -- Wazzu rolled up only 182 yards of total offense.
We need to give a little love to Air Force, too. Troy Calhoun's Falcons capped a 10-win season with a dominating 30-15 win over Baylor in the Armed Forces Bowl. Brad Roberts, as he's been known to do, ran the ball right down the Bears' collective throat, finishing with 116 yards and a pair of scores.
Roberts -- aww shucks -- also played his last game in an Air Force uniform.
Boise State tallied the other win for the league, squeaking by North Texas 35-32 in the Frisco Bowl. The Broncos also won 10 games this fall.
Utah State, San Diego State and San Jose State all fell in their bowl games.
The Aggies got trounced by Memphis 38-10 in the First Responder Bowl. The Aztecs got clipped 25-23 by Middle Tennessee State and Brent Brennan's Spartans fell to Eastern Michigan 41-27 in the Potato Bowl.
That leaves just one more game for the Mountain West.
Wyoming and Ohio will hook up Friday afternoon for a duel in the desert. Kickoff of the Barstool Sports Arizona Bowl is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. The game can be streamed at Barstool.tv.
As always, of course I am late putting this feature up. Bowl games come fast and furious and some of us drove 16 hours to Tucson this week. But, hey, that's my excuse anyway. Some of these games have already been played, but I can assure you Jen Kost, as always, keeps us on the ball. These picks were made way in advance.
