Three Cowgirls receive ITA Scholar-Athlete honors
TEMPE, Ariz., -- The Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) announced its 2021 Division I Women’s Scholar-Athletes and All-Academic Teams Monday. Three Cowgirl student-athletes were honored as Scholar Athletes, while as team, Wyoming was honored with the Team Academic Award.
In order to be honored as a team, a squad must have a cumulative GPA of 3.2 or above for the 2020-21 academic year. The Cowgirls notched a team GPA of 3.53 in 2020-21.
In order to be named an ITA Scholar-Athlete, one must have a GPA of 3.5 or higher for the academic year. Alyse Cormier, Mihaela Kaftanova and Ida Krause all received the honor this season. Both Kaftanova and Krause each earned the honor the third consecutive year.

A total of 210 women’s tennis programs and 1,505 Division I student-athletes received the honors this academic year. On the court, the Cowgirls went 13-6 overall and 7-2 in Mountain West play, winning their final seven matches to close the season.
UW also finished the season ranked sixth in the ITA Mountain Region Poll.
