LARAMIE -- The University of Wyoming wrestling team will have representation at U23 Nationals/U23 World Team Trials this weekend in Geneva, Ohio. Christian Carroll (97 kg), Gunner Henry (86 kg) and David Saenz (61 kg) will compete in the U23 freestyle competition held at the Spire Academy.

Carroll is a transfer from Iowa State. He went 5-5 during the early portions of last season for the Cyclones before sustaining a season-ending injury.

Henry is an incoming freshman from Brownsburg, Indiana. He claimed a high school state title this past season.

Saenz was 8-7 in 2024-25 for Wyoming. He received two dual starts and had a total of four bonus-point victories.

A U23 World Team spot is potentially at stake this weekend. The spot automatically goes to a Senior National Team member, however, if a National Team member isn’t available at that weight, the spot then goes to the tournament winner.

The event stretches from Saturday to Sunday. It is broadcast on Flo.

University of Wyoming’s Top 50 Football Players

During the summer of 2021, 7220Sports.com counted down the Top 50 football players in University of Wyoming history, presented by Premier Bone & Joint Centers, Worthy of Wyoming.

The rules are simple: What was the player's impact while in Laramie? That means NFL stats, draft status or any other accolade earned outside of UW is irrelevant when it comes to this list.

This isn't a one-man job. This task called for a panel of experts. Joining 7220's Cody Tucker are Robert GagliardiJared NewlandRyan Thorburn, and Kevin McKinney.

We all compiled our own list of 50 and let computer averages do the work. Think BCS -- only we hope this catalog is fairer.

Just The Facts: Size Doesn't Matter For Wyoming's War Memorial Stadium

Did you know it would take the populations of Gillette (32,857), Laramie (32,381), Rock Springs (23,319), Sheridan (17,844) and Wright (1,200) to create a sellout inside Michigan's famed 107,601-seat Big House, the largest college football stadium in the nation?

For those of you not familiar with the Cowboy State, those are Wyoming's third through sixth most inhabited cities, along with the small mining town in Campbell County.

How Many Medals Have Wyoming-Born Athletes Won at the Olympics?

Wyoming isn't represented on Team USA for the 2020 (in 2021) Olympics in Tokyo. But, athletes born in Wyoming have competed for the gold a handful of times over the last century.

According to the folks at BeenVerified.com, seven Wyoming-born Olympians have competed on the world's largest stage.

Since the 1932 LA games, these competitors earned four Olympic medals; one gold, two silver, and a bronze. Wrestling, Track and Field, and Rowing are the evens where Wyoming-natives have shined.
