BOULDER, Colo., -- The University of Wyoming Track and Field teams wrapped up the two-day weekend of competition at the CU Invitational on Saturday afternoon at the University of Colorado. 

Cowboy Kirk Unland came out on Saturday and took 1st place in the Hammer for the fourth time this season. Unland moved up to No. 7 on the UW All-Time Top-10 Event List with a throw of 211-8. Hap Frketich took third in the event with a mark of 190-4. 

“Our throws squad took a big step forward this week with the three wins (Guilia, Mikey, Kirk),” said assistant coach Carrie Lane. “Kirk and Colton are looking forward to facing some tough opponents next week in Virginia.”

After a Friday schedule full of field events, the Cowboys and Cowgirls hit the track for the first time this weekend. Cowboy Jerald Taylor took second place for Wyoming in the 3,000M with an altitude-adjusted time of 8:16.00 and Caige McComb ran a 54:48 for a third-place finish in the 400M Hurdles.

Jasmyne Cooper ran a 2:12.54 for a third place finish as the Cowgirl sophomore continues to be a mainstay in the top three in the event. Jordan Christensen set a personal best in the Shot Put, as the Cowgirl went 42-4.25 for the third spot in the event.

Jefferson Danso, Colton Paller and Mikey DeRock round out the top-three finishes for Wyoming. Danso posted a 47-8 mark in the Triple Jump, good for third place in the Triple Jump, while Paller (53-6.5) and DeRock (53-1.75) went two-three in the Shot Put.
