LARAMIE -- The University of Wyoming Track & Field teams head to Las Vegas for the UNLV Spring Invitational to compete in the first outdoor meet of the 2021 season on Friday and Saturday March 19-20 at Myron Partridge Stadium.

“It has been two years since we last competed in an outdoor competition, so we are excited to get the season started at UNLV,” UWhead Coach Bryan Berryhill said. “Our student-athletes have been training hard for this day and will use this as a building block for the rest of the season.

"I think both teams are much improved over two years ago, so this will be the first step to proving that at the MWC Outdoor Championships in May.”

This will be the first outdoor meet in nearly two years for the Cowboys and Cowgirls. The last time the full team competed outdoors was at the 2019 Mountain West Outdoor Championships on May 8th-11th, while a handful of Cowgirls competed at the 2019 NCAA Outdoor National Championships on June 5th-8th of that year.

The Cowboys and Cowgirls will be competing in the long jump, triple jump, high jump, discuss, hammer, 100, 200, 400, 800, 110 hurdles, 400 hurdles and the 4x100 relay.

Wyoming last competed at the Championships at the Peak, an indoor meet hosted by Air Force on Feb. 25th-27th, to wrap up the third and final meet of the 2021 indoor season. Six UW top-10 records were set this season, three by Cowboys and three by Cowgirls.

Bryson Engebretsen and Sage Coventry in the Heptathlon (8th and 9th, Hap Frketich in the Weight Throw (8th), Sadie McMullen in the Long Jump (9th), and Kayla Stibley and Aubry Sanchez in the Pole Vault (2nd and T-6th).
