UW women finish 17th at Wyoming Cowgirl Classic

MARICOPA, Ariz., -- The University of Wyoming Women's golf team concluded play at the Wyoming Cowgirl Classic on Tuesday hosting the final round of competition at the AK-Chin Southern Dunes Golf Club in Maricopa, Arizona.

As a team the Cowgirls finished in 17^th in the 22-team field led by a top 35 finish from freshman Kyla Wilde.

Wilde posted a third-round score of 78 (+6) bringing her total for the tournament to 224 (+8) finishing tied for 34^th. Morgan Ryan was the Cowgirls second-best finisher having her best round of the tournament in the third round shooting a 72 (E) and posting a three-round score of 229 (+13) to finish tied for 50^th.

Samantha Hui wrapped up the tournament with a three-round score of 238 (+22) finishing tied for 88^th. Meghan Vogt and Jessica Zapf rounded out the Cowgirl lineup finishing tied for 92^nd and 100^th respectively.

For the Cowgirls playing as individuals, Cristiana Caisca led the way with a three round total of 229 (+13) putting her in a tie for 50^th. For Ciasca it was her best tournament of the season so far posting her best finish of the season and recording her lowest three round score of the season.

Also playing as individuals, Michelle Nguyen and Rachel Stoinski closed out their tournaments in 96^th and a tie for 97^th respectively.

As a team, the Cowgirls finished in 17^th with a total score of 927 (+63), seven strokes ahead of 18^th place Eastern Washington and just behind 16^th place CSU-Fullerton. Santa Clara took home the team title with a three round score of 880 (+16) finishing three strokes ahead of second place Long Beach State.

The Cowgirls will have a quick turnaround as they head to University Place, Washington on April 11-12 for the Chambers Bay Invitational.
