White Lands All-America Honors at NCAA Outdoor Championships

EUGENE, Ore. (June 13, 2025) – Senior Jacob White earned his first All-America honor Friday in the 5,000 meters on the final men’s day of the NCAA Outdoor National Championships at Hayward Field.

White started the race on the inside split among the nation’s Top-24 5,000-meter runners. He stayed near the back of the pack until slowly moving up each 400 meters. By the time White hit the 1,800-meter mark, his pace picked up with split times staying in the 1:03 -1:05 range per lap.

When the lead group started to pull away from the junior, so did those runners behind White. With 1,200 meters to go, it became clear that being in the top 16 runners was possible. White ran his best split at 1:02.99, enough to keep him in the All-American range.

White crossed the line after a tough-ran race at 13:37.82 for 15th to join the short list of Wyoming distance runners to earn All-American status.

White becomes the first Wyoming runner to be named an All-American in the outdoor 5,000 meters and the second to earn the honor in the 5,000 meters, indoor or outdoor, since Mark Korir in the 2008 indoor season.

All three Cowboys earned All-America honors at the Outdoor Championships. Senior Daniel Reynolds finished seventh in the hammer for First-Team and 22nd in the shot put for Honorable Mention while junior Ryker Holtzen ran to 15th in the 3,000-meter steeplechase for Second-Team honors.

This concludes the 2024-25 track and field season. Wyoming closed with five All-America selections, 12 All-Mountain West selections while Reynolds won the NCAA indoor weight throw title, USTFCCCA Indoor National Field Athlete of the Year award, and coach Paul Barrett was named the USTFCCCA Mountain Region Assistant Coach of the Year.
