Wyoming Adds Another Potential Piece to its Defensive Front
LARAMIE -- Wyoming's staff has added another potential piece to its front four.
Zach Potter walked on this winter after spending the previous two seasons at the University of Toledo. The 6-foot-5, 295-pound defensive tackle has registered just one tackle. That came against Illinois during his lone appearance as a true freshman back in the opener of 2023.

He has three seasons of eligibility remaining.
Potter, who hails from Franklin, Ohio, was named First Team all-conference, all-city and all-district as a senior at Bishop Fenwick High School outside of Dayton. He also earned Second Team All-Ohio honors.
His lone FBS offer came from Kent State. Walsh University, a Division-II school in Canton, also wanted Potter.
He chose Toledo, where he helped lead the Rockets to an Appearance in the '23 MAC title game and a berth in the Arizona Bowl.
You might recall that one.
Potter watched as Evan Svoboda stepped in for an injured Andrew Peasley late in the fourth quarter and drove the Cowboys 61 yards in 11 plays, culminating in a 24-yard game-winning field goal off the right foot of John Hoyland.

Jay Sawvel and Co. have been busy this offseason, bulking up a defensive front that has been decimated by graduating and portal entries.
Tackle Jordan Bertagnole and edge rusher DeVonne Harris exhausted their eligibility. Nose Tackle Jaden Williams (Kentucky), along with ends Braden Siders (West Virginia) and Ethan Day (North Texas) left the program.
Wyoming's head coach added 16 players in the portal, including defensive ends Brayden Wilson (Weber State), Dawan Martin (Youngstown State) and Esaia Boger (Riverside City College). Former Bucknell tackle Aneesh Vyas was also inked during the winter.
A boost will also come internally with the return of Caleb Robinson, Kevin Sjogren and Lucas Samsula from season-ending injuries in 2024. Returners Dante Drake, Jayden Williams, Ben Florentine, Tyce Westland, Eltoum Murgus, Cody Crawford, Tell Wade, Nathan Murphy, Jordan Turnbull and Sabastian Harsh are also back in the fold.
The Cowboys also locked up prep standouts Gabriel Ikechukwu (Houston) and Henry Rehberg (Omaha, Neb.) at the tackle spot. Another three rookies -- Axel Ramazani (Des Moines, Iowa), Cade Brook (Aurora, Colo.) and Jason Handy (Cedar Park, Texas) -- will set the edge.
All listed transfers, including true freshman Ramazani, who is also the cousin of running back Harrison Waylee, are already on campus, taking part in offseason workouts.
Spring practice is scheduled to begin March 25 in Laramie. The annual Brown and Gold Game will take place April 26 inside War Memorial Stadium.
