Gear Up For Game Day: Air Force Falcons

LARAMIE -- The Wyoming Cowboys hit the road heading south to take on Front Range rival Air Force on Saturday at 1:30 p.m. MT in Colorado Springs. It marks the first road conference game for the Brown and Gold this season.

Where to Watch: Saturday's contest will be televised on CBS Sports Network. Rich Waltz will be on the call with Robert Turbin analyzing the action and Tiffany Blackmon on the sidelines.

Cowboy Notes

What A Comeback: The Cowboys scored 21 unanswered points against San Jose State to earn the win. It was the largest comeback since trailing 17-0 to Texas Tech in the season opener in 2023. It was also the first two score comeback since defeating App State in 2023, as UW trailed 20-7 in that contest.

Fourth Quarter Comeback: The Cowboys erased a 14-point deficit in the fourth quarter to win 35-28 against San Jose State. It was the largest fourth quarter comeback since trailing 27-6 heading into the fourth quarter against San Diego State on Nov. 14, 2009. The Pokes scored 24 unanswered points to close that game and win 30-27.

Passing Game: The Cowboys threw for over 300 yards in the win against San Jose State. Kaden Anderson was 23-of-39 for 304 yards with a pair of scores. It marks the second most in a game in his career after 342 last season against New Mexico. He had three passes of 35 or more yards in the contest with two going for touchdowns and one setting up the game winning score.

Big Play Harris: Freshman running back Samuel Tote Harris continues to make big plays for the Pokes. He recorded a 52-yard reception against San Jose State to set up the winning score for the Pokes. He also led the team in rushing with 47 yards in the contest. He has recorded 13 chunk plays this season to lead the team with 11 on the ground and two threw the air.

Kellman Finds Endzone: Running back Terron Kellman would not go down breaking numerous tackles on his way to finding the endzone in the final minute against San Jose State. He has nine chunk plays this season and recorded rushes of 28 yards and 14 yards to lead the team against San Jose State.

Tackles for Loss: The Cowboys recorded nine tackles for loss in the win over San Jose State for a season-high tying last week’s total against UNLV. The Cowboys have 17 over the last two games. Seven different Cowboys were credited with at least a half tackle for loss. The tackles for loss racked up to -37 yards for the San Jose State offense.

Westland in the Backfield: Defensive end Tyce Westland has been strong over the last two contests recording a sack in each game. He recorded a strip sack against SJSU and now has two sacks on the season and 5.5 in his career with the Cowboys. He also added a career-high 1.5 tackles for loss against SJSU and a season-high seven tackles.

The Sack Artist: Nose tackle Ben Florentine is having a solid season. He leads the team in tackles for loss with 5.5 and sacks with five. He ranks third in the conference this season and No. 14 in the nation with 0.83 sacks per game and leads the MW in sacks by an interior defensive lineman.

Pick Six: Linebacker Brayden Johnson recorded his second interception of the season and returned it 65-yards for the first interception for a touchdown by the Cowboys since Wrook Brown did so against New Mexico last season. He ranks fifth in the MW in total interceptions and ranks No. 20 in the nation.

Hearns and Stops: Nickel Desman Hearns recorded eight solo stops in the contest against San Jose State tying a career-high in total tackles. He also recorded a pass breakup on a third-down that would force a Spartan punt that led to a Wyoming go ahead score.

Svoboda and Catches: Tight end Evan Svoboda recorded a career-high four receptions in the win over San Jose State. The four receptions led the team, as he now has eight receptions for the season for 71 yards.

Fitz Magic: Wide receiver Michael Fitzgerald hauled in a 35-yard touchdown reception in the second quarter against San Jose State. It was his first touchdown with the Brown and Gold and the longest reception with the Cowboys. He now has nine touchdown receptions in his collegiate career.

Chunk Play for Chuck: Wide receiver Charlie Coenen recorded a career-long 45-yard reception against San Jose State. It was also his first career touchdown, as it tied the contest. it was one of two chunk passes late in the contest for Kaden Anderson as the other was a 52-yard completion to running back Samuel “Tote” Harris.

Fourth Quarter Points: The Cowboys recorded 21 points in the fourth quarter win over San Jose State. It was the most points in the fourth quarter by the cowboys since recording 24 points against Fresno State during the 2014 season.

House Call: Wide receiver Deion DeBlanc recorded a 73-yard punt return for a touchdown against San Jose State. It was the first for the Cowboys since Austin Conway took one back from 60-yards against UNLV on Nov. 12, 2016, against UNLV. The punt return for a touchdown was the longest return for a touchdown by a Cowboy since Chris McNeil returned a punt for a score from 76-yards against UNLV on Nov. 15, 2011.
