Wyoming Cowboys in the NFL: Week 9

LARAMIE -- Josh Allen is rewriting a good portion of the Buffalo Bills’ record books. The former University of Wyoming quarterback owns a number of different franchise high marks, and he set another one Sunday in a 28-21 victory over Kansas City.

Allen tore up the Chiefs – who entered Sunday with the league’s second-best defense – through the air, going 23-for-26 for 273 yards and one score. The 88.5 percent completion percentage is the best ever in Bills’ history. Allen also did a little on the ground, carrying it six times covering 19 yards with two touchdowns.

For the season, Allen is 157-for-223 for 1,833 yards with 13 touchdowns and four interceptions. He’s ran it 55 times totaling 280 yards with an additional seven scores for 6-2 Buffalo.

Below is a list of all the former University of Wyoming Cowboys and how they did in Week 9:

Andrew Wingard, Jacksonville Jaguars (safety)
Wingard had a big game in the Jaguars’ 30-29 overtime win at Las Vegas. He recorded six tackles. For the season, Wingard owns 45 tackles, one interception, three passes defended, one fumble recovery and one quarterback hit for 5-3 Jacksonville. He has boasted at least five tackles in all but one of Jacksonville’s eight contests this season. The Jaguars travel to Houston in Week 10.

Carl Granderson, New Orleans Saints (defensive end)
Granderson’s production continues to decrease in the Saints’ 34-10 loss at the Los Angeles Rams. He made a pair of tackles. For the season, Granderson has logged 33 tackles, 4.5 sacks, six tackles for loss, two passes defended and six quarterback hits for 1-8 New Orleans. After beginning the season with at least five tackles in four of his first five games, Granderson has failed to make more than three in any one game since. The Saints travel to the Panthers in Week 10.

Frank Crum, Denver Broncos (offensive tackle)
Crum was active for the third consecutive game in the Broncos’ 18-15 win at Houston. He played nine snaps, all on special teams. For the season, Crum has participated in 28 snaps, nine on offense and 19 special teams for 7-2 Denver. The Broncos host the Raiders on Thursday Night Football.

Logan Wilson, Cincinnati Bengals (linebacker)
Wilson did not play with a calf injury in the Bengals’ 47-42 loss to Chicago. And then on Tuesday morning, just hours before the trade deadline, he was dealt to the Dallas Cowboys. For the season, Wilson had registered 46 tackles, four passes defended and one fumble recovery for 3-6 Cincinnati. He will now try and help solidify the 3-5-1 Cowboys. Dallas is idle in Week 10.

Marcus Epps, Philadelphia Eagles (safety)
Epps and the Eagles were idle in Week 9. And during the off week, Epps was placed on the IR. For the season, Epps possesses six tackles for 6-2 Philadelphia. The Eagles travel to Green Bay for Monday Night Football.

Chad Muma, Indianapolis Colts (linebacker)
Muma was waived by the Colts ahead of their 27-20 loss at Pittsburgh.
For the season, Muma had registered five tackles.

Treyton Welch, New Orleans Saints (tight end)
Welch has yet to be elevated from the practice squad.

Solomon Byrd, Houston Texans (defensive end)
Byrd was released and resigned by Houston, the team that selected him in the seventh round of the 2024 NFL Draft, this offseason and is currently a member of the Texans' practice squad. In four seasons in Laramie, Byrd tallied 87 tackles and 10 sacks. He didn't play in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. He finished his career at USC.

Isaiah Neyor, Green Bay Packers (wide receiver)
Neyor was originally signed by the 49ers this offseason as an undrafted free agent. He later caught on in Green Bay where he has been added to the practice squad. Neyor, who played at Wyoming from 2019-21, caught 52 passes for 1,126 yards and 12 touchdowns. He added another on the ground. The Fort Worth product transferred to Texas in 2022 and capped his collegiate career at Nebraska last fall.
