Rants & Raves: SDSU Edition
SAN DIEGO, Calif., -- Was that San Diego State defense as advertised?
"Absolutely," tight end John Michael Gyllenborg said Saturday night after the Cowboys' 24-7 loss inside Snapdragon Stadium. "They were physical, disciplined and sound. Unfortunately, we just couldn't put a drive together after that first drive, and it's really frustrating."
To say the least.

Wyoming made lightwork of the league's top unit on the opening possession of the night, driving 75 yards on eight plays.
Quarterback Kaden Anderson heaved up a 23-yard beauty to Michael Fitzgerald on a 3rd-and-2. Back-up signal caller Landon Sims added a 37-yard run and tossed a short touchdown pass to Sam Scott to put the visitors on the board early.
That, as you now know, was the offensive highlight of the night.
Anderson threw three first-half interceptions. Fitzgerald wouldn't get full credit for a fourth-quarter fumble -- true freshman running back Samuel Harris scooped up the loose change before turning it over himself -- and Sims was hammered on a passing attempt late in the second quarter.
The sophomore fell to the turf, clutching his surgically repaired left knee. Head coach Jay Sawvel said he will miss the rest of the season and fears it's yet another torn ACL, the third of his college career.
Wyoming's offense capped this outing with just 185 yards of total offense and Anderson, who finished 12-of-24 for 93 yards, was sacked three times. The Aztecs' defense was giving up an average of 10 points per game entering this one. That is the second-best mark in the nation. That number will get even lower now.
It was as bad as it sounds.
