Cowboy Golf Travels to the Gene Miranda Falcon Invite
LARAMIE -- The University of Wyoming men’s golf team remains in the Front Range region this week. The Cowboys travel to the Gene Miranda Falcon Invite from Saturday-Monday.

The tournament takes place at Eisenhower – Blue Course with the individual competition occurring at the Eisenhower – Silver Course. Fifty-four holes will be contested with each day consisting of 18 holes beginning at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday and at 7:30 a.m. on Monday.
It’s a 23-team field. In addition to Wyoming, Air Force, Boise State, Cal Baptist, CSUN, Denver, Gonzaga, Hawaii, Idaho, Incarnate Word, Nevada, Northern Colorado, San Jose State, Southern Utah, UC Davis, UC Riverside, UC San Diego, UC Santa Barbara, Utah State, Utah Tech, Utah Valley, UT Arlington and Weber State are set to tee it up.
The Pokes began their season at the Ram Masters Invite. The young roster got its feet wet in collegiate golf with a tie for 15th, and head coach Joe Jensen would like to see a slight uptick for tournament No. 2 of the season.
“I want to see some improvement,” Jensen said. “We’ve created a foundation. I would like to see a little more lift from the combo of Kristof and Brody – two very fine players. That’s 50 percent of our team score. I want to see some more competitiveness, and I want to create a distinction between starting and playing as an individual.”
Conner Scheich led the team in Fort Collins. He tied for 34th at 218 (+8). Kristof Panke, Brody Leid, Ryker Lind and Kellan Ball rounded out the top-five finishes for Wyoming.
Following the Falcon Invite, Wyoming stays in the area for the Mark Simpson Colorado Invite. That tournament runs from Sept. 29-30.
