MARICOPA, Ariz., – The University of Wyoming men’s golf team completed play at the Cowboy Classic on Wednesday at Ak-Chin Southern Dunes Golf Club. The Pokes moved up on the final day, tying for seventh at 853 (-11).

“I want to thank Ak-Chin Southern Dunes and their staff,” head coach Joe Jensen said. I’m really proud of the group. They played a really good tournament. It’s a great event for our guys. Everyone contributed. We had really good production, top to bottom. The kids played hard. We had good preparation leading up, and I’m really proud of the group.”

USC took home the team title at 838 (-26). Arkansas State’s Thomas Schmidt stood atop the final individual leaderboard at 203 (-13).

Kellen Ball and Brody Knowlton each paced the Cowboys, boasting scores of 212 (-4), which placed them in a tie for 14th. Knowlton closed very strong with a Round 3 score of 66 (-6), while Ball concluded with a 73 (+1).

Kristof Panke shared 46th place at 217 (+1). Brody Leid rounded out the countable scores, sharing 53rd place at 218 (+2). Conner Scheich’s score is dropped, as he tied for 60th at 219 (+3). Austin Barry, who competed as an individual, carded a 238 (+22).
Wyoming closes out the regular season in a couple of weeks. The Cowboys participate in the UC Davis El Macero Classic from April 10-12.

Wyoming isn't represented on Team USA for the 2020 (in 2021) Olympics in Tokyo. But, athletes born in Wyoming have competed for the gold a handful of times over the last century.
