Pokes Golf Vaults to Eighth Place During Day 2 of Classic

EL MACERO, Calif., – The University of Wyoming men’s golf team vaulted up the leaderboard Saturday during Day 2 of the El Macero Classic.

The Cowboys are now eighth at 592 (+16) in a tournament being played at the El Macero Country Club.

“It’s a very, very difficult golf course,” head coach Joe Jensen said. “It’s a street fight. I knew what I was doing when I entered the event. It’s very difficult. It’s just good for our guys, and I’m proud of them for hanging in there and playing tough. I’m just proud of the dudes.”

Kellen Ball spearheaded the effort Saturday and is now tied for 20th at 147 (+3). He carded a 72 (E), which included five birdies. Brody Knowlton isn’t far behind in a share for 36th at 149 (+5). He logged a Round 2 score of 74 (+2).

Brody Leid is tied for 52nd at 150 (+6). He registered a Round 2 score of 77 (+5).
Kristof Panke also shares 52nd at 150 (+6). He improved upon his opening round and carded a second round 74 (+2).

Conner Scheich enjoyed a bounce back and very solid second round. He fired a 73 (+1) and is now tied for 56th at 151 (+7).

Austin Barry, who’s playing as an individual, is tied for 76th at 154 (+10). He carded a 79 (+7) on Saturday.

The third and final round gets underway on Sunday at 9 a.m.
