Cowgirls Drop Home Opener to Minnesota
LARAMIE -- The Wyoming Cowgirls dropped their home opener Saturday afternoon in Laramie, dropping a 6-1 contest against Minnesota.
The final score was not indicative of how close Wyoming made it to the Golden Gophers as UW lost a trio of three-set matches on the day. Minnesota also pulled out a 7-5 win in the third match of doubles play to escape with the Doubles Point.

At No. 2 singles, Silver Bijlsma earned Wyoming’s lone win on the day. Bijlsma outlasted former Cowgirl, Jeselle Ante, 6-3, 1-6 and 6-3. Anastasiia Kochelaevskaia at No. 1, Madlena Orlova at the third singles spot and Serina Abriola at No. 6 all lost three-set battles on the day. In doubles, the tandem of Abriola and Kochelaevskaia at No. 3 picked up the Wyoming win there.
The Cowgirls look to make it a weekend home split Sunday morning as Wyoming hosts Idaho at 10 a.m., from the Laramie Tennis Complex.
