NEW ORLEANS, La., – Senior Jacob White has been named the Men’s DI National Athlete of the Week by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).

This marks Wyoming’s second national athlete of the week, the first being cross country runner Paul Roberts in the 2019 season.

White was honored with the award following his individual title in the Merrill Fischbein Men’s Gold 8k at the 39th Roy Griak Invitational, last Friday. With a time of 24:39.8, he took over the lead at the 5k split on the ultra-hilly course, eventually finishing nearly 17 seconds ahead of the rest of the competition.

White’s victory also avenged his last-second defeat in the first meet of the season when he lost the lead at the Wyoming Invite with just meters to go.

Last cross country season, White led the Cowboys to a 30th-place team finish at the NCAA Championships, marking the first team score since the 2018 season. Fellow National Athlete of the Week, Paul Roberts, also led that 2018 squad at the championships.

White was also named Second-Team All-American at the 2025 NCAA Outdoor Championships when he crossed the line 15th in the 5,000 meters.

White and the rest of Wyoming will be tested again when they travel to South Bend, Ind., for the Joe Piane Invitational hosted by Notre Dame, on Oct. 3.
