Wyoming Cowboys in the NFL: Week 2
LARAMIE -- "We can't overthink it. We just gotta go into the game, keep him in the pocket and play our game."
That was Carl Granderson's response this week to the local media when discussing the threat Ravens' quarterback Lamar Jackson possesses with not only his right arm, but his dynamic legs.
New Orleans limited the explosive runner to just 34 yards on four carries. A Jackson overthrow late in regulation that turned into an interception -- Granderson provided the pressure -- also secured one of the biggest road upsets of the young season. The Saints held on late for the 24-17 victory in Baltimore, moving to 1-1 on the year.
Granderson, who lined up on the defensive edge in Laramie from 2015-18, tallied five tackles, including one for loss, and blocked a 49-yard field-goal attempt in the win.
On 51 pass-rush opportunities this fall, the Sacramento, Calif., native has been credited with five quarterback pressures, including four hurries. He took down Jared Goff in the backfield during the opener in Detroit.
Granderson, on the season, now has seven tackles, two tackles for loss, a sack, a quarterback hit and a blocked field goal for the 1-1 Saints. New Orleans hosts Las Vegas in Week 3.
