LARAMIE -- Raise your hand if this makes you feel old.

Currently out on the recruiting trail, Wyoming's staff is in hot pursuit of the son of a former standout in Laramie.

His name? Derrick Martin ... Jr.

Dad, you might recall, was a star cornerback from 2003-05, appearing in 29 games for Joe Glenn's Cowboys. Martin Sr. tallied 134 tackles and six interceptions out of the secondary, including a pick-six against UNLV during his senior season.

In his first outing in the brown and gold, the Colorado Gatorade Player of the Year, scooped up a blocked punt and rumbled into the end zone in the 2003 season opener, a 21-10 victory over Montana State.

He was the first Cowboy to leave school early and declare for the NFL Draft. That gamble paid off when he landed with the Baltimore Ravens in the sixth round. Martin went on to play for five franchises and won back-to-back Super Bowls as a member of Packers and Giants.

Now, about that son of his.

Junior already sports a laundry list of high-profile offers from the who's who of college football, including Auburn, Oklahoma, Ole Miss and Oregon. That register also includes Arkansas, Arizona, Houston, Oklahoma State, TCU and Iowa, among many others.

The 5-foot-10 wideout, who plays at Lewisville High School in the Dallas area, capped his junior campaign -- one limited to just nine games with a torn UCL -- with 36 receptions for 383 yards and three touchdowns, according to MaxPreps. He added 340 additional rushing yards.

RallyPreps, one of those numerous recruiting sites, lists Martin as the No. 10 receiver in Texas, heading into his senior season.

Martin, also a star on his prep track team, ran a 4.37 40-yard dash, per his X profile. He reaches nearly 23 miles per hour at full sprint.

LHS, which produced former Boise State and Arkansas quarterback Taylen Green, who was recently selected by the Cleveland Browns in the sixth round of April's NFL Draft, is like most football powerhouses in Texas: They thrive on recruiting.

According to the school's site, Martin maxes out on the bench at 255, front squats 390 and has a near 10-foot broad jump along with a 36-inch vertical.

Chip off the ol' block, huh?

You can see HERE the verbal commitments Wyoming has already landed in the '27 Class.

University of Wyoming’s Top 50 Football Players

During the summer of 2021, 7220Sports.com counted down the Top 50 football players in University of Wyoming history, presented by Premier Bone & Joint Centers, Worthy of Wyoming.

The rules are simple: What was the player's impact while in Laramie? That means NFL stats, draft status or any other accolade earned outside of UW is irrelevant when it comes to this list.

This isn't a one-man job. This task called for a panel of experts. Joining 7220's Cody Tucker are Robert GagliardiJared NewlandRyan Thorburn, and Kevin McKinney.

We all compiled our own list of 50 and let computer averages do the work. Think BCS -- only we hope this catalog is fairer.
