Wyoming Football To Host Scrimmage Saturday in Laramie
LARAMIE -- Jay Sawvel said Tuesday he's been pleased with his team's effort through seven spring practices. The focus, Wyoming's rookie head coach added, is to eliminate "valley's" and missed assignments.
So, far -- predictably -- the defense is ahead of the offense in nearly every category.
That will happen when nearly your entire unit is returning, coupled with new coordinator Aaron Bohl, who has been a coach on that side of the ball over the last five seasons.
"I think there's a lot of good things to it right now," Sawvel said. "We have a lot of stuff to clean up, we're not game ready -- we don't need to be game ready -- but we have a lot of things that we want to clean up and address."
What will the Cowboys offense look like this fall?
You can take a look for yourself Saturday inside War Memorial Stadium when the Pokes host a "full-blown scrimmage," per Sawvel. The workout is scheduled to begin at 10:15 a.m. and is free and open to the public.
"We're going to get after it on Saturday, so that will be good," Sawvel said.
Following the scrimmage, players will be signing autographs in the north end zone.
Wyoming's annual spring game is set for Saturday, April 27 at East High School in Cheyenne. Kickoff is slated for 1 p.m. and that is also free and open to the public.
