LARAMIE -- Damashja Harris is again looking for a new home.

The senior running back, who spent the 2025 season at Wyoming prior to brief stints at Lamar and North Texas, announced Tuesday on social media he will be entering the NCAA Transfer Portal.

The Tallahassee, Fla., native has one season of eligibility remaining.

Harris is the third running back this offseason to enter free agency, joining Terron Kellman and Patrick Broadway II. Twelve Cowboys in total are currently in the portal.

It is believed starter Samuel "Tote" Harris will return to the Cowboys' backfield. Max White, who transferred here before last season, is petitioning the NCAA for an extra year after suffering an injury during his tenure at the University of Iowa. Nico Hamilton, Jaden Lawrence, Dontae Burch and Nikos Varelas are also still on the roster, along with freshmen newcomer Ryken Banks.

Harris, who appeared in only four games, rushed for 52 yards on 13 attempts. That included a long of 20. He suffered a shoulder injury that set him back in fall camp.

The former three-star prospect from Ellison High School in Killeen, who in 2023 was named the All-Texas Team Specialist of the Year by Dave Campbell's magazine, didn't play a single snap last season on special teams.

"It has definitely been a battle," Harris said in late October. "Coming here, especially coming off of an injury last year, like just wanting to be on the team, wanting to be playing, wanting to be an asset. It's been a struggle."

The Cowboys' second-year head coach at the time understood the disappointment Harris was going through.

"He and I have had a number of talks recently about certain things," Sawvel said. "It's been hard on Damashja a little bit, right? He's not been playing. He had an injury coming out of fall camp. We had a high expectation. He's not met that expectation, necessarily. But that's also something that, we feel like there's still the possibility of him meeting expectations."

The two-week transfer window is set to open Jan. 2.
