LARAMIE -- Jason Maciejczak didn't need to sleep on this decision.

The 6-foot-3, 310-pound offensive guard signed on the dotted line Sunday, becoming the first known commit of Wyoming's 2026 transfer portal class. The junior, who has two seasons of eligibility remaining, spent the previous three years at the University of Nebraska.

"Wyoming is an awesome place," Maciejczak said on Monday. "The coaches are unmatched. (Offensive line) Coach (Joe) Tripodi and coach (Jay) Sawvel were great to me. Coach Tripodi and I connected right away, and seeing the standard of the room and watching the film, I can’t wait to get to work and join those guys and dominate as one unit."

The Cowboys, to this point, have lost two offensive linemen to free agency, Wes King and Luke Sandy, who both shared time last fall at left guard. Left tackle Caden Barnett and center Jack Walsh exhausted their eligibility.

A former three-star recruit out of T.F. Riggs High School in Pierre, S.D., Maciejczak initially committed to the University of North Dakota before Matt Rhule and the Huskers entered the picture. One position change later -- Maciejczak began his career on the defensive front -- he has now appeared in 21 games over the previous two seasons.

Maciejczak, whose father Dan was an All-American lineman at Chadron State and is in the school's Hall of Fame, was on the field for 33 offensive snaps in 2025, earning an overall blocking grade of 79.5, according to Pro Football Focus. He added 56 more plays on special teams, all on field goal and point-after attempts.

Wyoming in the Market for New Offensive Coordinator

The year prior he appeared in nine games, taking 47 snaps on special teams, including 28 in punt coverage. He was on the field for 36 offensive plays.

A two-time All-Big Ten Academic selection, Maciejczak in 2024 was also a part of the Tom Osborne Citizenship Team, which honors student-athletes for significant mentoring, community service and success in the classroom.

Maciejczak was stuck behind starting left guard Henry Lutovsky on the Huskers' two-deep this fall. The latter started every game during his final season in Lincoln. Offensive line coach Donovan Raiola was also fired at season's end.

Wyoming is hoping to retain both starting tackles Rex Johnsen and Braylon Jenkins. Promising young linemen like Giovanni Panozzo, Johnathan Bush, Quinn Grovesteen-Matchey and Caleb Hall, among others, are also in the pipeline. Jake Davies, after struggling with injuries last season, started 11 games in 2024.

Nate Geiger suffered an ACL tear for the second consecutive season and isn't likely to be cleared until sometime in the fall, according to a source familiar with the situation. He was the Cowboys' starting left tackle coming out of camp in back-to-back years.

University of Wyoming’s Top 50 Football Players

During the summer of 2021, 7220Sports.com counted down the Top 50 football players in University of Wyoming history, presented by Premier Bone & Joint Centers, Worthy of Wyoming.

The rules are simple: What was the player's impact while in Laramie? That means NFL stats, draft status or any other accolade earned outside of UW is irrelevant when it comes to this list.

This isn't a one-man job. This task called for a panel of experts. Joining 7220's Cody Tucker are Robert GagliardiJared NewlandRyan Thorburn, and Kevin McKinney.

We all compiled our own list of 50 and let computer averages do the work. Think BCS -- only we hope this catalog is fairer.
