Wyoming Golf Lands in Sixth at Desert Intercollegiate

PALM DESERT, Calif., – The University of Wyoming men’s golf team concluded play at the Wyoming Desert Intercollegiate on Wednesday at The Classic Club. The Cowboys took sixth as a team at 855 (-9), shooting a 292 (+4) in the final round.

Charlotte won the team title at 833 (-31). Colorado Christian took runner-up at 837 (-27), and Coastal Carolina was third at 846 (-18). Colorado Christian’s Xavier Bighaus stood atop the final individual leaderboard at 204 (-12).

Davis Seybert, who played as an individual, had the best finish for Wyoming. He ended in a tie for 14th after firing a final round 72 (E), which put him at 211 (-5) for the tournament. Seybert holed a trio of birdies in Round 3.

Brody Leid and Kristof Panke paced the Pokes’ scorers. They shared a tie for 22nd place at 213 (-3).

Leid, who’s 22nd-place finish is the best of his career, fired a final round 71 (-1). Wednesday saw him hole three birdies.

Panke carded a Round 3 score of 72 (E). Panke made a team-best five birdies, three of which were in succession. Damon Vilkauskas tied for 29th at 214 (-2). He finished with a 75 (+3) that included four birdies. Jaren Calkins placed in a tie for 39th at 217 (+1). His Wednesday saw him make a pair of birdies.

Patrick Azevedo rounded out the team scorers for Wyoming. He shared 52nd place at 219 (+3) with a final round 78 (+6).

Ethan Smith, who participated as an individual, also tied for 52nd. He shot a 74 (+2) in Round 3.

Wyoming is back in action at the Lamkin San Diego Classic. That runs from March 10-11 at the San Diego Country Club.

During the summer of 2021, 7220Sports.com counted down the Top 50 football players in University of Wyoming history, presented by Premier Bone & Joint Centers, Worthy of Wyoming.

The rules are simple: What was the player's impact while in Laramie? That means NFL stats, draft status or any other accolade earned outside of UW is irrelevant when it comes to this list.
