LARAMIE -- Being named your team's player of the game is a small consolation prize considering the Saints camp up short on the scoreboard Sunday inside the Superdome.

Carl Granderson, one week removed from watching from the sideline with an ankle injury, registered two sacks of former Heisman Trophy winner Kyler Murray on 25 pass-rush opportunities in that 23-13 home loss to the Vikings. He also tallied five total tackles, including two solo stops.

The 6-foot-5, 261-pound edge rusher now has 2.5 sacks on the season, playing opposite of Chase Young, the No. 2 overall selection in the 2020 NFL Draft. Granderson, who played in Laramie from 2015-18, went undrafted the year prior.

The Sacramento, Calif., native now has 16 tackles and 4.5 for loss this fall. He has also blocked a field goal.

Granderson racked up 17.5 sacks and 35.5 stops behind the line of scrimmage during his days in the Brown and Gold. He also picked off a pass against Hawaii during his senior season and returned it 61 yards for a touchdown. That wasn't his only trip to the end zone that fall, either. He scooped up a a fumble in the fourth quarter of the 2018 Famous Idaho Potato Bowl and rumbled 58 yards for the score in a 37-14 rout of Central Michigan.

University of Wyoming’s Top 50 Football Players

During the summer of 2021, 7220Sports.com counted down the Top 50 football players in University of Wyoming history, presented by Premier Bone & Joint Centers, Worthy of Wyoming.

The rules are simple: What was the player's impact while in Laramie? That means NFL stats, draft status or any other accolade earned outside of UW is irrelevant when it comes to this list.

This isn't a one-man job. This task called for a panel of experts. Joining 7220's Cody Tucker are Robert Gagliardi, Jared Newland, Ryan Thorburn, and Kevin McKinney.

We all compiled our own list of 50 and let computer averages do the work. Think BCS -- only we hope this catalog is fairer.
