Cowboys’ Mile and 4×400-Meter Relay School Records Broken

BOULDER, Colo., – Wyoming track and field broke two school records and gained four first-place finishes on the track on the final day of the Potts Invitational, Saturday.

Senior distance runner Jacob White raked in another record in as many indoor meets when he placed fourth in the men’s invite mile. His time of 3:58.89, adjusted for altitude, improved on his previous record of 4:00.46, the first sub-4-minute mile on the Wyoming record book.

While the 4x400-meter relays closed the meet, the Cowboys and Cowgirls both picked up half of their team's victories. The men’s relay of junior Cody Hape, sophomore Logan Brown and freshmen Chance Morris and Jackson Aydelott finished with a time of 3:11.81, a new school record. The previous record, set by Hape, Ferguson, Brown and Ekstrom in 2025, was beaten by a half-second.

The women’s 4x400-meter relay squad also won with a time of 3:48.77. The time was set by sophomores Gabbreiella Mendoza-Molina, Madeline Thorne, Megan Witkiewicz and Eva Dellorco.

Senior Elayna Chafee won an event herself when she ran in the women’s 60-meter final. With a time of 7.67, she ran a personal best and added to her second-place finish in the long jump yesterday.

Sophomore Taliah Morris went two-for-two on the meet, adding to her long jump victory with another in the 200 meters. She would win with a time of 24.69.

In the men’s 200 meters, Aydelott finished in third with a time of 21.50, the first 200-meter dash of his career. This time enters him into the record book at No. 7.

Senior Tristan Knueppel raced in his first 800 meters since the MW Outdoor Championships and finished second. His time of 1:52.99 was just 0.12 seconds off his personal best.

Rounding out Wyoming’s Top 3 finishers was junior Eowyn Dalbec in the 3,000 meters. Dalbec would take second overall with a personal-best time of 9:53.77. With altitude adjustments to 9:37.31, she moved up to No. 7 in the Wyoming indoor record book.
