“I think we made a lot of progress,” head coach Mark Branch said. “In the finals, you’re hitting two No. 1 guys in the country, and we were right there in dogfights in both those matches. It was just a great experience. That’s an NCAA Tournament type feel that those guys got. We helped ourselves out quite a bit this week, and I think we learned a lot.”

No. 4 Joey Novak (197) and No. 24 Christian Carroll (HWT) both competed in the finals of their respective brackets. Novak fell to No. 2 Rocky Elam (Iowa State) via decision, 6-3, while Carroll lost to No. 1 Yonger Bastida (Iowa State) via decision, 5-3.

Novak’s Saturday began with a 6-2 decision win over No. 16 Rune Lawrence (West Virginia) in the semifinals. Carroll logged his second top-10 upset in as many days with an 8-5 sudden victory over No. 9 Spencer Lanosga (Navy).

University of Wyoming’s Top 50 Football Players

During the summer of 2021, 7220Sports.com counted down the Top 50 football players in University of Wyoming history, presented by Premier Bone & Joint Centers, Worthy of Wyoming.

The rules are simple: What was the player's impact while in Laramie? That means NFL stats, draft status or any other accolade earned outside of UW is irrelevant when it comes to this list.

This isn't a one-man job. This task called for a panel of experts. Joining 7220's Cody Tucker are Robert GagliardiJared NewlandRyan Thorburn, and Kevin McKinney.

We all compiled our own list of 50 and let computer averages do the work. Think BCS -- only we hope this catalog is fairer.
