
Wyoming’s ‘Glue Guy’ Named MW Freshman of the Week
LARAMIE -- Forward Abou Magassa was named the Mountain West Freshman of the Week on Tuesday.
It is the first weekly honor of the season for the Cowboys, as Magassa recorded a career-high in scoring against New Mexico.

Magassa, a redshirt freshman from Morsang-sur-Orge, France, recorded a career-high high 10 points for the Cowboys in a 61-53 setback against New Mexico last Tuesday night inside the Arena-Auditorium. He was a perfect 5-of-5 from the field with a pair of dunks.
Magassa, who is averaging nearly four points a night to go along with 4.5 boards, also added five rebounds in the contest against the Lobos.

The Cowboys held New Mexico to 18.5 percent from the field in the first half. It marked the lowest percentage from a team in an opening half since Stetson shot 18.2 percent from the field in the first half on Nov. 26, 2014. It was the lowest by a conference opponent since San Diego State shot 16.7 percent on Nov. 18, 2013.
The 6-foot-7 rookie had yet to reach double figures in the scoring column this season, but added nine in a 64-61 victory in November over Southeast Louisiana. He also finished with nine rebounds in back-to-back games against BYU and Bellarmine.
