COLLEGE STATION, Texas – Freshman Taliah Morris closed her first year in Laramie in three events Thursday at the NCAA West First Round in College Station.

FIELD EVENTS
Morris started her day in the long jump and finished in 40th with a top jump of 19’ 2” (5.84 meters). After fouling on her first jump, she reached a distance of 5.81 meters before improving to her top mark to close her year in the field.

TRACK EVENTS
On the track, Morris ran in the fourth heat of the 100 meters and took 47th overall with a time of 11.73. Later that evening, she ran in heat one of the 200-meter dash and crossed the line at 24.03 for 40th overall.

Morris closed her freshman campaign with six Top-10 program times, including the school indoor record in the 200 meters and the No. 2 time in the outdoor 100 and 200 meters.

DAY ONE UPDATE
After a successful protest appeal in the men’s shot put, senior Daniel Reynolds’ fourth-place throw of 19.47 meters has been reinstated. With this appeal, Reynolds will compete at the NCAA Championships in both the shot put and hammer throw.

UP NEXT
In tomorrow’s day three action, three Cowboys will run in distance events. Seniors Ryker Holtzen and Albert Steiner will take on the 3,000-meter steeplechase at 4:40 p.m. MT, while junior Jacob White will run in the 5,000 meters at 7:10 p.m. MT.
