LARAMIE -- A trio of former Wyoming safeties didn't last long on the open market.

First it was Tashaun Gipson, the longest-tenured UW player in the NFL, inking a one-year, $2.9 million deal to stay in San Francisco. Marcus Epps on Monday was lured away from the NFC Champion Eagles thanks to a two-year, $12 million deal courtesy of Mark Davis and the Raiders.

Andrew Wingard today signed a three-year, $9.6 million deal to remain in Jacksonville's secondary. NFL Network insider Ian Rappaport is reporting the contract could land the Colorado product a total of $13.8 million and $6 million of the contract is guaranteed.

Wingard is coming off a pedestrian statistical season, registering just 37 tackles over a 17-game span. The fourth-year safety also picked off one pass, forced a fumble and tallied 2.5 tackles behind the line of scrimmage for the Jaguars, who made a surprise run to the AFC Divisional round where they fell 27-20 to the eventual Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs.

Wingard has racked up 202 tackles and picked off four passes while playing a key role on Jacksonville's defense and on special teams.

Wingard, along with Epps, patrolled the secondary in Laramie from 2015-18. He also added 10 interceptions, five forced fumbles and 25 tackles for loss in a Cowboys' uniform.

Wingard is one of 10 former Cowboys currently on an NFL roster, joining Josh Allen (Buffalo), Tyler Hall (Las Vegas), Mike Purcell (Denver), Chase Roullier (Washington), Logan Wilson (Cincinnati), Chad Muma (Jacksonville), Carl Granderson (New Oreleans), Epps (Las Vegas) and Gipson (San Francisco).

Every one of those players, aside from Gipson and Purcell, suited up for current UW head coach Craig Bohl.
