Borodina Wins as Cowgirls Open 2024 with Loss at No. 13 Oklahoma

NORMAN, Okla., – The Wyoming Cowgirl tennis team opened its 2024 slate with a 6-1 loss Friday at 13th-ranked Oklahoma Friday. Violetta Borodina earned the Cowgirls’ lone victory of the match, as she won at No. 2 singles.

Borodina picked up the victory by winning the third set superset, 10-7. She split the first two sets, dropping the first, 6-4 before dominating in the second set, 6-1. Jeselle Ante also made it to a third set in her first-career dual match as a Cowgirl but dropped the deciding third.

Wyoming will have a short turnaround to rebound as it begins a three-match stretch over the next two days at the Tulsa Hurricane Invitational. The Cowgirls will face Louisiana Tech in a full match tomorrow before playing the singles portion of their match with Omaha. Sunday, the match with Omaha concludes with doubles play before UW faces host-Tulsa.
