Wyoming’s Frank Crum to Appear in Saturday’s Hula Bowl
LARAMIE -- Frank Crum has an important dress rehearsal Saturday afternoon.
Wyoming's senior left tackle will appear in the 78th annual Hula Bowl inside Orlando's FBC Mortgage Stadium. Scouts from the NFL, along with the CFL and other professional football teams, will be in attendance at one of the nation's premiere college All-Star games.
Crum, a First Team All-Mountain West selection in 2023, is the first Cowboy to appear in the Hula Bowl since fellow lineman and former teammate Eric Abojei played in last year's contest.
Quarterback Casey Bramlet (2004), linebacker Leo Caires (2002), safety Trent Gamble (2000), punter Aron Langley (1999), wide receiver Marcus Harris (1997), defensive tackle Pat Rabold (1989), quarterback Craig Burnett (1988), tight end Jay Novacek (1985), kicker Bob Jacobs (1971), linebacker Jim House (1969), kicker Jerry DePoyster (1968), linebacker Rick Egloff (1967) and linebacker Chuck Lamson (1962) also represented Wyoming at this postseason showcase.

Crum, a 6-foot-7, 315-pound Laramie native, appeared in 56 career games -- 48 starts -- on the Cowboys offensive line. He helped pave the way for two 1,000-yard running backs -- Titus Swen and Xazavian Valladay -- during his time on the high plains. Twice he was on units that earned a spot on the Joe Moore Award Midseason Honor Roll, an honor given to the top offensive line in the nation.
Crum lined up at right tackle during his first three seasons in Laramie before moving to the left side. He was a 2023 Preseason First Team All-Mountain West selection by MW Media. Crum was also a 2023 Preseason First Team All-Mountain West as selected by both Athlon Sports and Phil Steele.
Former Wyoming edge rusher Solomon Byrd will also compete in the Hula Bowl. Byrd, who transferred to USC after the 2021 season, registered 87 tackles and 10 sacks for the Cowboys from 2018-21.
Wide receiver Ayir Asante also accepted an invite to the FBS All-Americans Tropical Bowl. That game will take place Jan. 20 also in Orlando. During his lone season in Laramie, Asante snagged 21 catches for 372 yards and six touchdowns.
The Hula Bowl is slated to kickoff at 10 a.m. Mountain Time and will be televised on CBS Sports Network.
