Cowgirls Break Single-Round School Record at Bobcat Classic

GOODYEAR, Ariz., – The Wyoming Cowgirl golfers took another swing at history on Tuesday at the Bobcat Desert Classic shooting a 282 (-6) for the second round breaking the school record of three-under par set in 2022 at the CSU Ram Classic.
It was the lowest round of the day for any team and puts the Cowgirls in third place after two days.
Wyoming shot a 287 (-1) for the first round, as UW has shot two of the three-lowest rounds in school history at the event at Golf Club at Estrella in Goodyear, Ariz.
“It really was a fantastic day from top to bottom for the team,” UW head coach Josey Stender said. “Their work ethic, patience and belief in what we are doing is to credit. I’m just so proud of all of them. Grace’s rally from yesterday to today says so much about her determination and confidence.”
Grace Dunkleberg had a career day, tying the school record with a 68 (-4) for the second round. It is the second time in the last week a golfer has done so with Morgan Ryan doing so in the final round at the Cowgirl Classic. Ryan leads the Cowgirls and is in 10th place after a 71 (-1) on Tuesday for a two-rooound mark of 141 (-3).
Jadan Gonzalez is right behind in a tie for 11th. She recorded a round of 69 (-3) on Tuesday and is at 142 (-2) for the tournament. Kyla Wilde is in a tie for 20th at 145 (+1). She shot a 74 (+2) on Tuesday.
Tomine Bjerkelo and Dunkleberger are tied for 49th at 149 (+5). Sophie Spiva is playing at an indy and is tied for 71st at 152 (+8). Samantha Spielman is also playing as an indy at 159 (+15).
Seattle leads the field after two-rounds at 10 under-par. Grand Canyon is in second at nine-under par with the Cowgirls in third at seven-under par. Rivekka Jumaglova of Seattle leads the field at 11 under-par.
The teams return to action on Wednesday with a 8:30 a.m. MT shotgun start.
