SALT LAKE CITY, Utah., -- The University of Wyoming soccer team’s struggles on the road continued Sunday. The Cowgirls fell to Utah State 3-0 in a game played at Ute Field, on the campus of the University of Utah, due to poor field conditions at the Aggies’ home field in Logan.

The loss drops UW to 7-10-1 overall and 3-7-0 in Mountain West Conference play. The win improves Utah State to 12-4-3 overall and 5-3-2 in league action.

The Aggies staked themselves to an early advantage Sunday. Kami Warner netted a second-minute score to give her team the early 1-0 edge.

The first half was mostly balanced with the Aggies taking five shots to Wyoming’s four. Utah State got after it in the final 45 minutes, firing 11 shots, and the Cowgirls only managed two.

A pair of those 11 shots found the back of the net. Sara Taylor made it 2-0 in the 62nd minute before Sammie Murdock gave the game its final tally with a goal in the 70th minute.

Senior midfielder Rilee Castilla came off the bench to pace Wyoming with a pair shots. Four other Cowgirls accounted for one shot apiece.

Senior goalkeeper Hannah Lee received the start in net for Wyoming. She logged a season-high five saves.

Wyoming finishes up the regular season at home. The Cowgirls will celebrate Senior Day on Thursday by hosting Colorado State at 3 p.m. at the Madrid Sports Complex.
