LARAMIE -- The University of Wyoming soccer team closed out the home portion of its non-conference slate in disappointing fashion Thursday. The Cowgirls fell in a 3-0 decision to Idaho State at the Madrid Sports Complex.

The loss was the first of the season for Wyoming, dropping it to 3-1-2 on the season. With the win, the Bengals improved to 1-6-0 on the year.

Idaho State opened the scoring in the 12th minute. Mary Za scored off a corner kick from Meagan Tamashiro.

The Bengals closed the opening half and began the second half strong. Kaylyn Buchanan found the back of the net, unassisted, in the 45th minute to give Idaho State a two-goal advantage at the break. Buchanan netted another goal off a free kick from Callie Mullen in the 46th minute, which capped the scoring Thursday.

Wyoming took 14 shots against Idaho State’s eight. Jazi Barela led the way for the Cowgirls with a quartet of shots.

Haley Bartel received her second career start in net for the Cowgirls. She made a pair of saves, while Bengals’ goalie Kelsey Jargstorf logged seven saves.

Wyoming concludes non-conference play away from home. The Cowgirls travel to Louisville on Sunday for a 3:30 p.m. contest before playing at North Dakota on Sept. 14.
