Cowgirls Upset in Mountain West Tournament Quarterfinals
* University of Wyoming press release
LAS VEGAS -- The top-seeded Wyoming Cowgirl tennis team was upset Thursday in the quarterfinals of the Mountain West Tournament, losing 4-2 to San Jose State. Wyoming is now 14-10 on the season and awaits its postseason fate next week.

The Cowgirls started the day strong, winning the Doubles Point behind the strength of a 6-1 win at the No. 3 spot by Noesjka Brink and Nikol Dobrilova. At No. 1 doubles, the All-Mountain West tandem of Ana Fernandez and Sophie Zehender clinched the point with a 6-4 victory.
In singles, San Jose State got off to a fast start to take the lead in the match as the Cowgirls tried to stage a comeback late in the contest, much like it has all season long. However, it was not enough this time, as UW got just a lone singles victory on the day, winning at the fourth position. Brink was stellar in her straight-sets win at No. 4, winning 6-3 and 6-1.
The Cowgirls went to a third set at the No. 1 and 5 spots, needing to win both but the Spartans proved too tough and clinched the match with a win at the No. 5 position.
