ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. & SEATTLE – The University of Wyoming track and field program closed the indoor regular season with a first-place shot put finish and two personal bests at the Don Kirby Invitational and a new No. 3 time in the men’s mile at the Husky Classic, Saturday afternoon.

DON KIRBY INVITATIONAL
In Saturday’s sole first-place finish, senior thrower Cam Burkett threw 59’ 4 1/4” (18.09 meters) in the men’s shot put. Freshman Charles LaFore also had a great showing in the throws, following up his weight throw on day one. He took seventh with a personal-best throw of 56’ 9 1/4" (17.30 meters).

Other marks were freshman Quinn Lindsay with a throw of 50’ 1 1/2" (15.25 meters) and junior Gage Griffith with his mark of 49’ 9 3/4" (15.18 meters).

In the women’s triple jump, junior jumper Elayna Chafee recorded a distance of 38’ 4” (11.68 meters).

On the track, Wyoming began the day with the women’s 60-meter hurdles prelims. Senior Gabby Drube ran a time of 8.91 while freshman Carly Norman finished at 8.96, after altitude conversions. Both just missed out on the finals.

Senior Jaheim Ferguson also just missed the 60-meter hurdle final, finishing with a time of 8.41, with altitude conversions.

Three Cowgirls ran in the 60-meter unseeded dash. Finishing first for Wyoming was freshman Taliah Morris with a time of 7.76. Freshman Megan Witkiewicz ran a personal-best time of 7.88 while senior Joan Easter crossed the line at 7.93, all with altitude conversions.

In the men’s 60-meter invite, junior sprinter Carter McComb finished in 12th an altitude-adjusted time of 6.86.

In Wyoming’s last invite section of the weekend, freshman Bradley Ekstrom finished 8th with an altitude converted time of 47.69.

The final event in Albuquerque for the Pokes was the women’s 800-meter. Senior Paige Sefried came in 16th and crossed the line at an altitude-aided time of 2:21.30.

Overall, at the Don Kirby Invitational, Wyoming tallied two first-place finishes, 12 personal bests and two program Top-10 marks.
HUSKY CLASSIC
Wyoming only competed in the mile on day two in Seattle. For the women, junior Libby Berryhill-Worshek ran a time of 5:02.43.

In the men’s mile, senior Ryker Holtzen picked up his second personal best and a Top-10 school finish. His 23rd-place time of 4:01.24 landed him No. 3 in program history. Junior Jacob White finished just 10 spots behind Holtzen at 4:02.38.

Junior Mac Zastrow finished next with a time of 4:03.82 while senior Trevor Stephen ran a time of 4:07.86. The last two Cowboys to finish the race were sophomore Jacob Bach with a time of 4:10.27 and senior Asefa Wetzel, crossing the line at 4:14.57.

The Husky Classic saw four Wyoming Top-10 times while four Pokes ran personal bests.

University of Wyoming’s Top 50 Football Players

During the summer of 2021, 7220Sports.com counted down the Top 50 football players in University of Wyoming history, presented by Premier Bone & Joint Centers, Worthy of Wyoming.

The rules are simple: What was the player's impact while in Laramie? That means NFL stats, draft status or any other accolade earned outside of UW is irrelevant when it comes to this list.

This isn't a one-man job. This task called for a panel of experts. Joining 7220's Cody Tucker are Robert GagliardiJared NewlandRyan Thorburn, and Kevin McKinney.

We all compiled our own list of 50 and let computer averages do the work. Think BCS -- only we hope this catalog is fairer.
