LARAMIE -- Wyoming quarterback Kaden Anderson Wednesday was named to the Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award Preseason Watch List.

The Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award recognizes the top offensive player in Division I football who also exhibits the enduring characteristics that define Earl Campbell: integrity, performance, teamwork, sportsmanship, drive, community and tenacity; specifically, tenacity to persist and determination to overcome adversity and injury in pursuit of reaching goals.

In addition, the nominee must meet one or more of the following criteria: Played football at and graduated from a Texas High School and/or currently playing at Texas D1 four-year college.

He earned Honorable Mention Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award National Player of the Week honors last season during Week 10.

Anderson, a native of Southlake, Texas last fall appeared in nine games and started three for the Cowboys in the month of November. The then redshirt freshman finished the season completing 70-of-120 attempts for a 58.3 completion percentage.

He threw six touchdowns to go along with three interceptions. He averaged 106.1 passing yards per game and also finished with two rushing touchdowns for the season.

Anderson was named the Manning Award Quarterback of the Week and MW Freshman of the Week after leading the Pokes to a win at New Mexico. He made his first career start leading the Cowboys to a 49-45 win.

He threw for a career-high 342 yards in the contest, the most passing yards by a Cowboy since Cam Coffman had 366 yards against New Mexico back in 2015.

It is also the most by a true freshman or redshirt freshman in the MW era of Cowboy Football. Brett Smith threw for 341 yards in 2011 against San Diego State.
