QB Kaden Anderson Will Start for Wyoming at New Mexico
LARAMIE -- There will be a new quarterback under center for the Cowboys.
Kaden Anderson will get the start at New Mexico after completing 15-of-24 passes for 182 yards off the bench and leading Wyoming on five of its six scoring drives in a 27-25 setback against Utah State last Saturday night in Laramie.

Jay Sawvel confirmed the move Monday during his weekly press conference.
"I thought he performed pretty well the other night," Wyoming's rookie head coach said, adding that there were a couple plays where he needed to make safer decisions with the football. "... I thought overall, he did a really good job of keeping us in a rhythm, keeping us in a flow, and that's what we've got to do offensively."
"It's pretty surreal," Anderson added. "I had a quick little meeting with Sawvel this morning and he told me the news. I kind of got like little butterflies in my stomach. That kind of excitement. If I just execute at a high level and just get the ball to the playmakers, I think we have a really good shot of winning this game."
Anderson, a redshirt freshman from Southlake, Texas, has appeared in six games this fall, mainly entering late in the fourth quarter when the game had already been decided. Before the Aggies came to town, Sawvel said he would utilize a two-quarterback system.
Junior Evan Svoboda made his seventh-straight start against Utah State and was under center for the first two drives of the night. The second -- an 8-play, 55-yard possession that took 5:19 off the clock -- led to a 43-yard field goal off the right foot of John Hoyland.
He would get one more with 1:13 remaining in the first half. Svoboda was picked off by Jordan Vincent, leading to a late touchdown that gave the visitors a 17-10 halftime lead.

Svoboda would take two more offensive snaps in the second half, both inside the Aggies' 5-yard line. Running back Sam Scott was stopped for a two-yard loss on first down and Svoboda lost another on a keeper before being pulled for good. The Cowboys would again have to settle for a field goal.
Svoboda has struggled mightily during his first season as the full-time signal caller. Statistically, he is the least efficient passer in the country, averaging just 128.1 yards per game, including seven interceptions. The 6-foot-5, 245-pound Arizona native is completing just under 47% of his passes.
Is this job Anderson's from here on out?
"I don't know if he's essentially lost this job," Sawvel said of the embattled Svoboda, who was jeered Saturday night when he re-entered the game in the third quarter. "I told him what we were going to do, you know, as a starter this week. I have a great deal of respect for him. I have a great deal of admiration for how hard he works and how hard he prepares. Look, not everything is just solely on the quarterback. There's times that we have breakdowns at other positions and some things of that nature, too.
"I reinforced my confidence in him, my belief that he can still be a really good player."
Anderson, who has thrown for 377 yards and two touchdowns on just 28 completions, said he hadn't yet spoken to Svoboda but added the two are close and will continue to be supportive of one another.
"Ultimately, we got to get a win," Anderson said. "Whether that's getting a win with him or me. So, we got to get a win."
Wyoming (1-7, 1-3) and New Mexico (3-5, 2-2) are slated to kickoff Saturday from University Stadium in Albuquerque at 2 p.m. Mountain Time and the game will be televised on TruTV.
